CHICAGO, IL

Chicago is by far one of our most favorite cities in the US! It is a city full of life, adventure, entertainment, sporting events and great food! Chicago is known for their Chicago-style hot dogs, deep dish pizza, Cubs baseball team, and their stunning architecture. To top it off, this city is right on Lake Michigan. Why this city is so special to us is because some of our amazing family lives there so we have been visiting this wonderful city ever since I was little. We are so excited to share with you some of our favorite Chicago restaurants, bars, and things to do.

TOP BRUNCH & LUNCH SPOTS

-RIVER ROAST: River Roast is an upscale, modern restaurant right on the river that is a fun spot for brunch or lunch! They are known for their unique plates and Bloody Mary's. 

-LULA CAFE: Lula Cafe is the perfect spot for breakfast or brunch! Their farm to table dishes are fresh and one of a kind. They also have a casual, laid-back and welcoming atmosphere that make it a great spot for every occasion.

-BAND OF BOHEMIA: The Band of Bohemia is a culinary brewhouse that is the first Michelin Starred brewpub! They serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday's and are known for their delicious chicken and waffles and unique cocktails. 

-LOU MALNATI'S PIZZERIA: If you're looking for some famous deep dish pizza then Lou Malnati's is a place you must try out! It is considered, "The oldest family name in Chicago pizza." It also was featured on the Food Network! 

-PORTILLO'S: Portillo's is a famous hot dog place in Chicago. It's a spot you must try out for lunch! 

TOP DINNER SPOTS

-CARMINE'S: Carmine's is a charming, upbeat Italian restaurant with awesome outdoor seating. They are known for their award winning pastas that are perfect for sharing and their extensive wine list. 

-GIBSON'S: Gibson's is an upscale bar and steakhouse that has a lively atmosphere and great outdoor seating. 

-GIRL & THE GOAT: The Girl & the Goat is a lively, fun, upbeat restaurant known for their innovative small plates. They are also known for their vast wine selection from around the world and extensive beer selection from local Chicago breweries. 

-THE PURPLE PIG: The Purple Pig is located on Michigan Ave and is known for it's vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, as well as it's unique small plates that are perfect for sharing. 

TOP BARS

-SIGNATURE ROOM: The Signature Room is a bar/ lounge located on the 96th floor of the Hancock Building. It is by far one of the coolest bars we have ever been to! It has breathtaking views of the entire city, delightful cocktails, and tasty appetizers. 

-LONDON HOUSE ROOFTOP BAR: London House Rooftop Bar is located on the roof of the London House Luxury Hotel. It is three stories of indoor/outdoor drinking and dining with amazing views of the city! This is definitely a place you will want to stop for a cocktail and some great Instagram pictures!

-DEVEREAUX: Devereaux is a classy, posh rooftop bar located on the 18th floor of the Viceroy Hotel. It has stunning views of the city, a swimming pool, and signature cocktails. 

TOP THINGS TO DO

-GO ON AN ARCHITECTURE RIVER CRUISE: Learn about Chicago's most beautiful buildings around the city on a 90 minute narrated architecture cruise. We have taken this cruise three times and it is by far the best way to see the city and learn about Chicago's stunning buildings. 

-VISIT THE BEAN: The Cloud Gate sculpture is also known as the "bean" since is a famous outdoor sculpture in Millennium Park shaped like a bean. It's definitely a picture worthy spot! 

-VISIT LAKE MICHIGAN: Chicago is right on Lake Michigan which makes it absolutely amazing for swimming, boating or just hanging out at the beach. You can walk straight down Michigan Ave and be at the beach in no time. The beach has wonderful walking/running trails, beach volleyball nets, and a few restaurants. 

-SHOP ON MICHIGAN AVE: ​Spend the day shopping on Michigan Ave also known as the "Magnificent Mile." It is a beautiful street full of every store you can think of, as well as some delicious restaurants. 

-SPEND THE DAY AT SOME AWESOME BREWERIES: 

  • GOOSE ISLAND: Goose Island has an awesome one hour brewery tour where you get to try multiple beers as you hear the motivating story of how this brewery got started! The brewery is very chill and welcoming atmosphere. It is definitely a place worth checking out! 

  • LAGUNITAS: Lagunitas is a super eclectic and unique three story brewery. They have live music, food, board games, and great beer. It's a great place to spend the afternoon with friends. 

-CHEER ON THE CUBS AT WRIGLEYVILLE: Wrigley Field was built in 1914 and is one of the most historic, iconic, and friendly fields you will ever visit. It is located right downtown Chicago and is surrounded by Cubs fan bars. Seeing a game at Wrigleville is one of the most memorable experiences. 

TOP PLACES TO STAY

-CHICAGO MARRIOTT DOWNTOWN MAGNIFICENT MILE: This chic, trendy, modern hotel is located right on Magnificent Mile making it the perfect location to walk everywhere you need to go! 

-THE WESTIN MICHIGAN AVE: This beautiful hotel is also located on Michigan Ave right across from Bloomingdales. It's another perfect location for quickly getting everywhere in the city.

-OMNI CHICAGO HOTEL: The Omni is another perfectly located hotel on Michigan Ave. It just had major renovations done on it to make it more modern and inviting than ever!
