POSITANO, ITALY

Positano was by far our favorite place in Italy! It was seriously like a fairytale! It’s picturesque hillside houses, crystal clear blue waters, charming restaurants, and romantic atmosphere made this quaint, charming city perfect in every way. To top it off the food, wine and limoncello were all amazing! We can’t wait to go back to this charming town but until then we are excited to share our favorite places, spaces and things to do in Positano with all of you!

WHERE TO STAY

-IL GABBINANO HOTEL: This is where we stayed when we were in Positano! It is a charming hillside hotel quite a ways up the hillside but the views are absolutely spectacular! The hotel was super cute with a balcony overlooking the gorgeous blue waters. It also was in a great location with numerous restaurants and bars nearby. They even served breakfast every morning which was nice! We would definitely stay here again the next time we go to Positano!

TOP BRUNCH AND LUNCH SPOTS

-L’ANCORA: We stumbled upon L'ancora as we were walking to our hotel and we are so glad we did! This cute little hillside restaurant has a spectacular view overlooking the crystal, clear waters. We got the mozzarella de buffalo, a pasta and wine and everything was amazing! This was the perfect lunch spot.

-CASA E BOTTEGA: This healthier brunch/ lunch spot was aways up the hill but totally worth the walk, because the food was delicious. All of their food is fresh, organic and they even have gluten free options. If you feel like getting a great walk in before brunch then check out this spot.

TOP HAPPY HOUR SPOTS

-FRANCO'S: Franco’s was by far our favorite bar in Positano! This modern, outdoor, hillside bar overlooks the crystal clear waters and has an upbeat, fun atmosphere. We stopped here for a happy hour drink around sunset and it was absolutely gorgeous! Their drinks are a little pricey but it’s totally worth it for the views and awesome atmosphere!

-BLU BAR: Blue Bar is right on the beach and has a lively, upbeat atmosphere with hip music an excellent cocktails. It was the perfect happy hour spot after a day of exploring.

-FARO BAR: Faro Bar is in Hotel Montemare that’s right on the cliffside overlooking the beautiful waters. It has floor to ceiling window and an awesome patio with excellent views! This is the perfect spot to go for happy hour before going to dinner at Il Cappitano or Da Vincenzo since both are close by.

-RIVA BAR: This bar hip, lively, modern bar is at the Rada Hotel. Ria Bar has live piano music every night staring around 7pm. If you like live music, then this is the spot for you!

TOP DINNER SPOTS

-DA VINCENZO:  This was our favorite dinner spot in Positano! It is a family owned restaurant which made it very warm and welcoming! The food and wine were delicious and they had the most amazing tiramisu!

-NEXT2: Next2 is a little fancier restaurant in Positano with a modern, hip and chic atmosphere. The food and wine were both delicious. Definitely make a reservation because they book up fast!

-IL CAPITANO: Il Capitano is inside of Hotel Montemare and is a rooftop restaurant with amazing views of Positano. If you decide to eat here, try to go before sunset so that you can get some wonderful Instagram pictures.

TOP THINGS TO DO

-SHOP IN THE OPEN AIR MARKET: In the center of Positano is a street of fun little boutiques selling specialty Italian made items such as Italian leather sandals, beautiful linen shirts, gorgeous sundresses and of course the famous homemade limoncello.

-HANG OUT AT THE BEACH: Marina Grande Beach is the picturesque beach you see in all of Positano's pictures and postcards. This lively beach is lined with restaurants, beach bars and music. It is the perfect place to relax in the sun or swim in the crystal clear waters for the day.

-RENT A BOAT: There are places all along the beach to either rent a boat for the day or sail the waters with a captain. What better way to see the Amalfi Coast than by boat!

-BOAT TO CAPRI: We took a ferry to Capri for the day and it was totally worth it! It was only a 30 minute boat ride to this tiny, charming island in the middle of the water! In Capri there are so many fun things to do:

  • Mount Salerno Chairlift: This is a little chairlift that takes you to the highest peak in Capri called Mount Salerno! At the top are some of the most amazing views of the island! Totally worth it!

  • Blue Grotto: If you have time, take a boat to the Blue Grotto. We didn’t have enough time since we were only in Capri for a day but we heard it was amazing.

  • Piazetta: This is a fashion square in Capri full of cute little shops.

-WALK THE PATH OF THE GODS: If you like hiking this is an amazing hike with spectacular views of Positano! It is about a 1.5-2 hour hike one depending on how often you spot to take pictures!
