NEW ORLEANS, LA 

New Orleans is one of our favorite places to visit! It is a city full of life, culture, live music, and delicious cajun food. This past time we went to NOLA we stayed in the Warehouse District, which was perfect walking distance from everything. Below you will find our favorite NOLA restaurants, bars and things to do!

TOP DINNER SPOTS

-COCHON: Cochon is hands down one of our favorite restaurants in New Orleans. It is located in the charming Warehouse District and it has a lively, upbeat and rustic environment. They serve delicious Southern Cajun Dishes. We got the beef short rib, which was amazing!

-BOURBON HOUSE:Bourbon House is located right on Bourbon Street and they specialize in New Orleans Seafood. It is the perfect spot for a large group if you are looking to go out after.

-BORGNE: Borgne is a modern, upbeat restaurant located in the Hilton Hotel that is in the Central Business District. They are known for their signature cocktails and great local seafood!

-JOHNNY SANCHEZ: Johnny Sanchez is a modern, chic, Mexican restaurant located in the Central Business District. If you are looking for some strong margaritas and excellent fajitas, this spot is for you!

-ACME OYSTER HOUSE: Acme Oyster House is a lively New Orleans restaurant in French Quarter. They are known for their Po boys, oysters and gumbo. 

-PECHE: Peche is an excellent seafood restaurant on Magazine Street. They have a rustic, hip and upbeat atmosphere. 

-EMERIL'S: Emeril's is sleek, modern restaurant in the Warehouse District. They are known for their delicious New Orleans Cuisine! 

TOP BRUNCH SPOTS

-BROUSSARD'S: Broussard’s is a classy, elegant restaurant in the heart of the French Quarter. Don’t let the white tablecloths scare you because this restaurant puts on a one of a kind jazz brunch with $12 unlimited mimosas and rose! It is one of the most fun brunches we have ever been to! You must try the chicken and waffles….it is amazing!!  

-THE RUBY SLIPPER CAFE: The Ruby Slipper Cafe is an upbeat and lively cafe serving Southern brunch dishes and classic cocktails. It is located on Magazine Street and is the perfect spot for brunch. They do not take reservations, however you can put your name on the waitlist by downloading the "NoWait" app.

-THE COUNTRY CLUB: The Country Club is located in a cute white cottage and it is known for its Cajun Southern food. It has a laid-back and welcoming atmosphere, and it even has a pool in the backyard!

-COURT OF TWO SISTERS: Court of Two Sisters is known for their daily jazz brunch that includes live jazz music, a brunch buffet, and an awesome outdoor patio.

TOP BARS

BOURBON STREET:

  • PAT OBRIEN'S: The famous Pat Obrien's is our favorite bar on Bourbon Street because you are always guaranteed to have a great time! They have a  beautiful outdoor patio, as well as a dueling piano bar! They are also known for their, "Hurricane," drinks that you must try!

  • LAFITTE'S: Lafitte's is one of the oldest bars in New Orleans dating back to the 1700's. It is a dimly lit bar that is neat to go to at night because it is only lit by candles! You also have to try the "Purple People Eaters," drink.

  • CATS MEOW: The Cats Meow is an awesome two-story karaoke bar! They have a great dance floor and a nice balcony overlooking Bourbon Street!

  • SINNERS AND SAINTS: Sinners and Saints is owned by Channing Tatum! It has a speakeasy, burlesque-type feel to it, with classic cocktails, a DJ spinning and a bumping dance floor! 

WAREHOUSE DISTRICT:

  • CAROUSEL BAR: The Carousel Bar is a classy piano bar in Hotel Monteleone. It has a bar made out of a carousel that actually rotates! It is the coolest bar! You must try the famous drink they make called the Sazerac.

  • MANNING'S: Manning's is a fun sports bar with tons of TV's and outdoor games! It's the perfect spot to watch a sporting event or play a game of jenga!

FRENCHMAN STREET:​

  • 3090: 3090 is the best bar on Frenchman Street! They have live music everyday of the week that will for sure make you want to dance! They also have an upstairs club with a DJ spinning, dance floor rocking and a great outdoor patio overlooking Frenchman Street.

  • SPOTTED CAT: The Spotted Cat is an intimate jazz club that has a lively and friendly atmosphere. It also is standing room only so be sure to go early if you want a good spot.  

  • APPLE BARREL: The Apple Barrel is a small jazz club featuring live jazz music every night of the week! 

UPTOWN:​

  • Hot Tin: Hot Tin is a rooftop bar on the top floor of the Ponchtrain Hotel! It is by far one of our favorite bars in New Orleans! It has gorgeous views of the city and a chic bar serving hand crafted cocktails. This is definitely a place you will want to check out!

  • BULLDOG: The Bulldog is an upbeat, lively beer pub with an excellent outdoor patio! 

CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT:

  • MONKEY BOARD: The Monkey Board is a rooftop bar on the 17th floor of the Troubadour Hotel. This is a hip, trendy, and lively bar overlooking New Orleans! 

TOP THINGS TO DO

-BIKE TOUR: Tour the city of New Orleans on an entertaining 3 hour bike tour with Free Wheelin Bike Tours! It was one of the best tours we have ever been on! We stopped along the way at various iconic places and even stopped for beignets and coffee. If you go on this tour, be sure to ask for Brett! He made our tour so much fun! 

-GAMBLE AT HARRAH'S: If you are in the mood to do some gambling then head over to Harrah's! They also have a fun nightclub called Masquerade. 

-RIDE THE STREET CAR: Take the Street Car around town! It's very cheap and a great way to see the city!

-SHOP ON MAGAZINE STREET: Magazine Street has over 60 blocks of cute boutiques, restaurants, bars and the most charming houses. 

-NATIONAL WWII MUSEUM: Check out the WWII Museum that is located in the Central Business District. You can literally spend the whole day at this national history museum. 

-KAYAK SWAMP TOUR: Take a New Orleans Swamp Tour on a kayak! We didn't have time to do the kayak tour on this past trip, but it is on our list of the next NOLA trip.
