CHESTER, ENGLAND

Chester, England is one of the most charming places we have ever been to! It's a small city about 3 hours north of London that is full of culture and history. It is definitely worth the short train ride from London. Matt and I had the privilege of visiting this beautiful town in January for our friends Katie and Bobby's wedding, and I must say this was hands down one of the most memorable and elegant weddings we have ever been to! Although we were only there for three days, we got to see so much of this charming town thanks to Katie's mom, who planned some wonderful excursions for us. We are so excited to share some of our favorite Chester restaurants, bars, and things to do!

TOP RESTAURANTS

-THE CHESTER FIELDS: The Chester Fields is a cute, cozy, country pub in the Cheshire countryside with a lively atmosphere. They serve great cocktails and delicious dishes.

-THE BOTANIST: The Botanist was one of our favorite restaurants in Chester! It has a rustic, lively and upbeat atmosphere with live music. They specialize in signature cocktails! You have to try one of their "Pot & Planter" cocktails that comes in a cute flower pot! Also, you must try their amazing kabobs!

-OPERA GRILL: The Opera Grill was where our friends Katie and Bobby had their wedding reception. It is an absolutely gorgeous restaurant with multiple floors, a beautiful outdoor patio and live music on the first floor.

-RISTORANTE SERGIO: This was an awesome, family-owned, Italian restaurant in Chester. They had delicious pastas and great bottles of wine for a decent price.

TOP BARS & PUBS

-THE ALCHEMIST: The Alchemist was one of the coolest spots we went to for a drink! It has a trendy, hip, upscale atmosphere, and they specialize is mixology-type drinks. Their cocktail menu is a periodic table, and their fancy drinks are served in chemistry test tubs. Matt and I got a drink that when you mixed the alcohols together, the drink changed colors! You must go here for a drink!

-THE FALCON: The Falcon is a local pub in the heart of Chester with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. You are guaranteed to have a good time with the locals at this pub.

-THE BOOT INN: The Boot Inn is one of the oldest pubs in Chester that was built in the 1600's. It is a dimly lit pub with lots of history and character.

-THE CHESTER GROSVENOR HOTEL: The Chester Grosvenor Hotel is a glamorous hotel with a swanky bar serving classic cocktails.

-DUTTONS: Duttons is located right in the heart of Chester and is a classy spot specializing in great champagne and cocktails! We went here for a happy hour drink after a day of shopping at the Chester Rows!

TOP THINGS TO DO

-CHESTER CATHEDRAL TOUR: The Chester Cathedral is a beautiful Church of England Cathedral located in the city of Chester. The one hour tour takes you on a climb up 125ft. to the top of the cathedral tower. At the top of the tower you not only get the best views of Chester, but you can also see two countries and five counties.

-FALCONRY TOUR: The Falconry Tour was one of our favorite things we did in Chester! On the tour you not only get to see some the most spectacular birds of prey including owls, falcons, hawks, vultures, and even a golden eagle, but you can also hold them if you want to.

-CHESTER WALKING TOUR: The Chester walking tour is a guided tour that is a great way to see this charming city that is full of history and character. Along the tour you will see the riverside Groves, the Chester Rows, the city walls, and the beautiful Cathedral.

-SHOPPING AT THE CHESTER ROWS: The Chester Rows are two-story rows of shops, which makes it the perfect spot to spend the afternoon shopping. Some of the medieval buildings that make up the Chester Rows have been there since the 13th Century, which is really neat!

-CHESTER WALLS WALK: Around the parameter of Chester is a 2 mile roman wall that you can walk along! It makes a great morning or afternoon walk!

-NORTH WALES TOUR: The North Wales Tour is a full-day bus tour to North Wales. You stop along the way in Llandudno, which is a cute seaside town. Then you travel to Conwy to explore the Conwy castle and enjoy some fish and chips. Next, you travel to Snowdonia National Park, where you can hike around the gorgeous mountain, as well as see a few waterfalls. Finally, the last stop of the day is in Betws-Y-Coed, which is a popular inland town. This was one of our favorite tours we did!
